No Fear

Many of us never thought we'd see this day in our lifetime. Someone finally stood up to the most intimidating person alive.... Grandpa Larry. And who is this brave soul you ask? None other than Mighty Max, in all his 3-foot tall, 25-pound glory. While eating dinner, Max became restless and thought standing in the chair was a good idea. Grandpa Larry, in his best do-it-or-die voice, told Max to SIT DOWN, or else. This would have been enough for an ordinary man to buckle at the knees and slouch back down into his seat, but not Max. Max stared back at Grandpa without flinching and tried to outsmart Grandpa by sitting on the arm of the chair. As we all know, Grandpa Larry doesn't take too kindly to this kind of a challenge. Next thing Mighty Max knew, his bottom was flying off the arm into the seat with the swift arm swing of Grandpa Larry, which, by the way, he has perfected over the last 30 years. I'm sure you think the story ends here... Oh no. Max, still not flinching, turned to Grandpa Larry and said, "Hey, don't spank me!" At that point, I think Grandpa realized he had finally met his match.

Handy Dandy Notebook

After attending "Blue's Rainy Day" class at the Rec Center, Max insisted on having a Handy Dandy Notebook just like Steve and Joe from Blue's Clues. As you can see, I was able to rig one up. Here he is drawing clues in it.

Tapir

Max is obsessed with this little plastic rodent that came with his Diego Rescue Pack. It has to be the ugliest animal in the world. It goes EVERYWHERE with us. He shows it to everyone that crosses our path by shoving it in their face and yelling, "It's Tapir, it's Tapir". He gets one of two responses everytime - "What's that, a pig?" or they just look at him as if to say "what the *&%^ is a tapir, you're a strange kid" Max has been all about this thing for so long, Kev tried finding a stuffed animal Tapir online for his birthday. On the entire world wide web, there were two. One was $50 and the other would have given me nightmares. As I was posting this, Max ran in and showed me that Tapir can hold a crayon... oh geez.

THE HALL OF FAME - Mom and Dad's favorite pre-blog Max stories

September 2007 (16 months old) - Max pointed at Colonel Sanders on the wallpaper of KFC and said, "Grandpa."

November 2008 (2 yrs old) - Max's favorite show at the time was Blue's Clues, a show about a dog who leaves paw prints on things he uses as clues. One day he spotted Lily's paws as she lay on the floor and screamed "A clue! A clue!". He proceeded to drag her around the room by the legs showing everyone her "clues".

December 2008 (2 yrs old) - Max was casually laying on the couch watching TV when I noticed him chewing on something small. After extensive questioning to find out what was in his mouth, he finally shrugged his shoulders and said, "booger".

February 2009 (2 yrs old) - Max had been sick with a cold and fever for several days. After he woke up one morning I asked him how he was feeling, and he responded with a smile and said, "happy".

February 2009 (2 yrs old) - While sitting in church, Max looked at Kevin with his finger in his nose and said, "I got it, Dad."

Max is taking a class called Pint-Size Fitness. As you can see he loves it. I don't know if it's because he likes the class or because he has a huge crush on his teacher, Miss Mona.
