During the Dino O'Dell concert the day before Halloween:
Dino O'Dell to Max: "Your name is Dino?"
Max: "No, my name is Max or Elvis."

Freaky Fall Fest
We braved the frigid temps in the low 40's and ventured out to Leawood City Park. Max, a.k.a. Elvis, competed in the "Best Costume" contest. He strutted his jumpsuit and sideburns across the stage and impressed the judges earning himself a Top 7 finish (no places, they were all winners). He was awarded a bag full of goodies for his stellar impersonation, for which he replied, "Thank you, thank you very much".

Missed Opportunity
Today was Max's last day of gymnastics for this session. The parents were asked to join the kids in the gym for the second half of class. At the end, the kids were called one by one to stand on the mat, face the parents, hold their certificate high above their head, and smile so everyone could clap for them. After the first couple names, kids were walking up, holding the certificate up for about half a second, then walking back to their spot on the floor. THEN they called Max. This boy was not going to let a moment of undivided-all-eyes-on-him attention slip by. The instructor said, "MAX!" Max repeated his name, said "that's me!", ran up to the mat, climbed on top of it (all with a huge cheesy smile), and held that certificate as high as his little midget arms could stretch. He held that certificate like it was an Olympic gold medal... and he held it... and held it... and held it high some more! The clapping died down, and my boy held it some more! He was proud as peaches and he wanted to savor the moment. The instructor finally gave him a friendly shove off the mat. I sat holding Kendall, crying from laughter, then crying at the realization that I didn't have my camera. As you can see, Max and I attempted to recreate the moment at home.

Kayla and Lance's Wedding
Great night! Max stood with the single guys drinking apple juice, waiting to catch the garter. Later in the evening we found him dancing on the pole.
MJ Lives On
Whomever thought the King of Pop was one-of-a-kind and his moves would never be duplicated, think again! Behold, the chosen one to carry on the legacy is among us. He is 3-year-old Andrew Bonebrake. Remember this name, it will someday be synonymous with the likes of Fred Astaire, James Brown, Tina Turner, Paula Abdul, and of course, Michael Jackson.
Here he is with his protege, Max.

DEEP THOUGHTS by Max
Sitting in the car waiting for the police officer to return after Rachel was pulled over for speeding:
Max: "Let's go, Mom."
Rachel: "I can't go, Max."
Max: "You can do it, Mom, don't give up."
Max: "Let's go, Mom."
Rachel: "I can't go, Max."
Max: "You can do it, Mom, don't give up."
DEEP THOUGHTS by Max
As we pulled out of Grandma and Grandpa's driveway at the start of our 3 1/2 hour drive home, Max said, "I miss Grandma and Grandpa, are we almost there?"

Katy Trail or Bust
...and BUST it is.
The long-awaited Katy Trail ride had finally arrived. You would have thought Kevin was fresh from Eagle Scout graduation. This boy was prepared with a capital packed-with-everything-you-could-possibly-ever-need-or-want-for-a-225-mile-5-day-bike-ride-across-Missouri. The bags were packed, the bikes were prepped, the accommodation arrangements were made, the extracurricular activities were planned, and the adrenaline was pumpin'! It was GO time and nothing was going to stop them......... nothing EXCEPT the flu that Rachel had the week before and passed on to Kevin. Our poor Kevin Armstrong fought through the first 35 miles of the Katy before waving his white flag at the nasty flu bug. He definitely left his mark on that first leg of the trail, however... well, on the side of the trail. Be scared Katy Trail, he'll be back and he'll kick your ass!
